White, Black, Other: ☑️

“White, Black, Other: ☑️“

by Nicole Costa

They point

And

They say

You’re not

White enough

You’re not

Brown enough

You’re not

Black enough

For me

To the ignorant

I say

I AM

All things

I AM you

And

You are me

But

They refuse

To see

You’re not

Tall enough

Your waist

Is not

Small enough

Your hair’s not

Long enough

For me

You’re a woman

You’re too weak

What gender is it

That you seek

You’re dependent

You’re too strong

Too Independent

You are wrong

You’re too rough

You’re too tough

To them I say

I AM enough

It’s not my hair

That triggers you

Beau

It’s my spirit

Shining light

On you

Not wanting

To believe

That we are

All one

Wanting

To know why

I don’t speak

The local tongue

Truth

Is what I speak

And

That is what

The Natives sung

Racial identity

Somewhere

In-between

Biracial family

Raised by

The streets

Check the box

You are other

Rejected by

Your father

And

Your mother

If you’re adopted

That’s another ☑️

Check

My skin

Is always changing

Tired of

All the racist

And

All of the questions

Are you gay

Or

Are you straight

I had enough

Of

All your hate

I AM

The Divine

Feminine

As well as

The masculine

This is the

Duality

Of

All human

Reality

Stop trying

To mold me

Into what you

Want to see

What you

Want me to be

I was made perfect

Just as I AM

The way Creator

Designed me

You’re not

Rich enough

Your home

Is not

Big enough

You live in

Your van

You have no stuff

I have

Wisdom

Experience

Honesty

And

Diligence

The stones

You cast at me

Will fall upon

Yourself

I AM

A mirror

🪞

A reflection

Of

Your truest self

You want to

Judge me

But really

You are judging

Yourself

Always looking

Down on me

Always trying

To frown on me

You’re too young

You’re too old

You’re too serious

You’re too bold

You’re too quiet

You’re too intense

You’re too loud

You’re on the defense

You’re no fun

You’re a clown

You joke too much

Around

Always trying

To bring

A sister down

But

I have a crutch

The Guardians

Are at watch

All of Divinity

Are looking

Over me

And

They see

What you are doing

To me

White, Black, Other

Let’s create another

For all

My sisters

And

My brothers

A box of love

For one another

Let’s end

The hatred

Towards

Each other

Let’s heal the land

Before it dies

Seek the truth

Discern the lies

It’s not yours

And

It’s not mine

It belongs to

The Divine

Mother Earth

Father Sky

Can you hear

The people’s cries

Check

Check green

You know

What I mean

It’s the color

Of

Every living thing

The grass

The trees

The plants

The weed

The heart chakra

Higher love

Help sow

The seed
